THE PROCESS
DESIGN
All BAMBA ZONKE bags are tested before production because I insist on needing to feel the bag:

~how it adapts
~the length of a stripe
~the weight of the bag
~how convenient it is.
Every element is carefully thought through and thoroughly tested before production commences.

SELECTION
For me, the Cape Town lifestyle has been my source of inspiration.

I first created the PVC Range... something practical, strong, for outdoor use on both the beach and in the city...something for every occasion.

Thereafter the Fabric & Leather Range were born... I wanted this to be a product that was both stylish and elegant.

Throughout the years, I continue to add to the repertoire and have launched a Hand-made Crocheted Range and will continue to grow.
FOR THE LOVE OF SHWESHWE & FABRIC
You’ve probably noticed vibrant fabric used for Bamba Zonke.

I use ShweShwe because it’s both gorgeous and durable, but what I love the most is that it’s so unique and comes in a range of vibrant colours. I adore bright colours!

It is a trademarked fabric and is manufactured by Da Gama Textiles in the Zwelitsha township outside King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is printed on cotton which is grown locally also in the Eastern Cape. The fabric is used in traditional ceremonies in rural areas and worn by Xhosa, Sotho, Tswana and Pedi peoples of Southern Africa - especially during wedding & celebratory ceremonies.
I also like to use locally sourced yarns and sustainably printed fabrics, like African Wax fabric: iconic to Africa, they are industrially-produced colourful cotton cloths with batik-inspired printing. One feature of this fabric is the lack of difference in the colour intensity on the front and back sides. They also only come in limited quantities so every bag we make is therefore unique.

The cotton yarn used for our crocheted bags is manufactured in South Africa and made from recycled cotton.

Our beach bags are made from knitted plastic also manufac-tured in South Africa and BPA free.
